Skateboarding Decks

Skateboard painting inspired by the artist Katsushika Hokusai and Japanese art.

These illustrations were inspired by the aesthetics and visual power of Katsushika Hokusai's works, particularly his iconic 'The Great Wave of Kanagawa'. The first board recreates the dynamism of Japanese waves, incorporating koi carp, a symbol of perseverance and transformation. The second piece plays with the fusion of pop culture and tradition, depicting a cat snuggled up in a bowl of ramen, enveloped in an atmosphere of sinuous vapour.

Each piece explores the relationship between movement and balance, reflecting the fluidity of skateboarding and the expressiveness of traditional Japanese art, while bringing a contemporary and narrative touch to the composition.
